South African music star Makhadzi has been officially discharged from the hospital after spending several days under medical care following a serious car accident that occurred shortly after New Year’s Eve.

The award-winning Limpopo-born artist was involved in a horrific road accident on 31 December 2025 while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg. Initial reports about the crash surfaced on social media before her management company, Makhadzi Entertainment, confirmed the incident and her hospitalisation.

Images and video footage that later emerged online revealed the severity of the crash, showing a badly damaged vehicle, which sparked widespread concern among fans and fellow artists across the country.

On Monday, the music star took to social media to share a positive update on her condition, confirming that she has been released from hospital and is continuing her recovery from home. The singer expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support she received during what she described as one of the most difficult moments of her life.

“Thank you for the love and support you have been showing me during this difficult time,” she wrote. “I feel a need to update you about my health because of the love you’ve shown me, not only in South Africa but from my African supporters globally.”

While her condition has stabilised, Makhadzi revealed that doctors have advised her to remain on strict home care for the next 10 weeks due to injuries sustained in the accident. As a result, she will be stepping away from live performances during this recovery period.

Despite the setback, the singer reassured fans that her voice was not affected by the crash — something she described as a blessing she does not take lightly.

“I am slowly recovering well, trusting the process,” she said, adding that the forced break from touring will be used productively.

Makhadzi explained that although she will not be performing on stage, she plans to spend time in the studio writing new music, turning her recovery period into a creative season.

“Ten weeks might look like I will be lonely, but I believe God is giving me time to write beautiful melodies,” she shared.

Reflecting on the ordeal, the star credited her survival to divine intervention, thanking God for what she described as a “second chance to breathe.” She ended her message by assuring fans that she will return to the stage once fully healed and stronger than before.
