Social Media went buzzing following the news of Amapiano heavyweight Kelvin Momo’s unexpected failure to appear at the high-profile OR Tambo Homage Cocert which was held in Mbizana, Easter Cape, the disappointment was anchored on series flight delays.

Many of his fans and orginizers as well as those who attended the show where left with sad faces at the event which was meant to be an honoral  liberation festival event organized to celebrate the iconic South African anti-apartheid politician and activist Oliver Tambo. The event also was championed to remember the late DJ Volo Da Saint.

The concert ultimately proceeded without him, slightly dampening what was intended to be a night blending musical celebration with deep historical significance.

The artist missed appearances has added to his growing numbers of conversations around his reliability and trust. Kelvin has had several other notable shows he failed to turnup particularly this year, it can be recalled that around May he was expected to perform at Cafe 69, Piano Hub and Makubenjalo and other series of a-list profile events, though his failure to show up at the events where much attributed to his unexpected health challenges.

Kelvin has since released a statement profiling his decisions and what happened, in his statement he attributed that he missed his initial flight due to unforeseen traffic delays while en route to the airport. Although according to the statement, a second flight was quickly arranged in an attempt to salvage the situation, but further delays made it impossible for him to arrive in Mbizana in time for his scheduled performance.
